Biography

CARROTS Carrots is an indie band born in El Prat de Llobregat (Barcelona) in 1997, formed by Vicente "Willy" Maciá, Roberto Castellanos, Freddy Forner and various drummers throughout their career. Their style combined rock, pop and psychedelia, with influences such as Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd and Brian Wilson, always seeking their own sound. After recording their first demo and standing out at events such as Fira del Disc and BAM, they signed with the label Grabaciones en el Mar, with which they released their first album in 1999, Saving Chocolate Coins. The album, acclaimed for its eclecticism, took them to festivals and tours throughout Spain. In 2002 they released Sunshine, recorded with Paco Loco, with a more pop approach. The album was also released in USA and Japan, a milestone for a Spanish independent group. They played at festivals such as FIB, Contempopranea and Ebrovisión, and collaborated with artists such as Sidonie and Paco Loco. Their third and final album, All It Takes Is a Little Confidence (2004), maintained their characteristic stamp. They announced their dissolution in 2005, closing with a mini-tour and the EP Cinnamon Park. In 2009 they briefly reunited to celebrate the reissue of their discography. After their separation, their members continued in music: Freddy and Matías in Moves, Robert with Enrique Bunbury, and Vicente with his solo project, Pigmy. Carrots left a unique mark on the Spanish independent scene, recognized for their authenticity and experimental spirit. 2025 has brought them back to the stages. Psyche Fest BCN, La lata de bombilla in Zaragoza have been some of the stages of their return.
