Biography

PIGMY Vicente Maciá, former guitarist, singer and composer of Carrots, has been Pigmy, his solo project, since 2007. To date he has three published albums. He debuted with "Miniaturas" (2007, Junk Records) eleven small great songs cared for to the last detail, at times reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel, Cat Stevens or Kevin Ayers. With his second work "Hamsterdam" (2014, Hurrah Música), a conceptual double album, the musician composed his most baroque and ambitious work, creating small gems of craftsmanship full of arrangements and orchestrations. "Hamsterdam" was praised by audiences and critics, being one of the best albums of 2014. In the 2015 Christmas season, he would join Grabaciones en el Mar again to release a long-pending project, a 7" single of three carols with folk and psychedelic touches, a hallmark of the house. His long-awaited third album "Manifestación" was released in November 2020 through the label Guerssen and was considered by several media outlets one of the best albums of the year, El País, El Periódico, Mondosonoro, Ruta 66. Pigmy does not abandon his acoustic and precious sound that characterizes him, although this time it comes accompanied by Renaissance instruments such as the lute and the recorder and some touches of progressive rock that give the songs a unique personality, creating magical and timeless atmospheres.
